Asian Athletics: Pakistan’s Nadeem Shines, India Bags Silver and Bronze Medals

Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem won gold in the javelin event of the Asian Athletics. He defeated India’s Sachin Yadav. Nadeem won gold in his first foreign trip after the Paris Olympics. However, several Indians, including Neeraj Chopra, did not play in this competition.

Nadeem won the gold medal with a throw of 86.40 meters in Gumi, South Korea on Saturday. India’s Sachin Tendulkar threw the javelin with a throw of 85.16 meters. Japan’s Yuta Sakiyama finished in third place with a throw of 83.75 meters.

Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage was ahead in the first few throws. He finished fourth with a throw of 83.27 metres. Another Indian player, Yashbir Singh, finished fifth with a throw of 82.57 metres. China’s Hu Haoran finished sixth. Sri Lanka’s Sumedha Jagat finished seventh and Pakistan’s Mohammad Yasir finished eighth.

Meanwhile, India’s Parul Chaudhary won the second silver. She won the silver in the 5000 metres steeplechase by finishing in 15:15.33 seconds. Kujur won the bronze by breaking the national record. He finished the boys’ 200 metres race in 20.32 seconds.

Asian Games medallist Vithya won bronze in the 400m hurdles. She clocked 56.46 seconds. Pooja won bronze in the women’s 800m race. She clocked 2:01.89 seconds. Jyoti Yaraji finished fifth in the women’s 200m final.
