The upcoming BCB board of directors election date has been set for October 4. Tamim Iqbal will contest for the post of president. Aminul Islam Bulbul will also contest for the same post. Former cricketers like Minhajul Abedin Nannu have also expressed their desire to participate in the election.

Now, the Cricketers’ Welfare Association (CWAB) has written to the BCB, requesting the names of cricketers to be nominated in the former cricketers’ category. In a letter to the BCB president, CWAB wrote, “As per the BCB’s constitution and election guidelines, we would like to formally nominate Category 3 representatives (5 national cricket captains and 10 national cricket players’ representative councilors) for the upcoming BCB elections. As a recognized organization of cricketers, CWAB believes that it is of utmost importance that the players’ views are fairly and accurately reflected in the administrative structure of the board.”

We are hopeful that with your support, players’ representation will continue to strengthen the democratic and participatory spirit in the cricket administration of Bangladesh.”

The letter was sent to the BCB president by the newly elected president of COAB, Mohammad Mithun. Meanwhile, elections are usually held for the 23 director posts of BCB in three categories. Out of these, 10 are from Director Category-1 (District and Division).

The councilors will vote for 12 people from Category-2 (clubs) and one person from Category-3 (public universities, former cricketers, various organizations). In addition to these 23 people, two directors from the National Sports Council (NSC) will join the BCB board.
