BCCI Considers Lifting Saliva Ban IPL 2025: The 18th season of IPL is going to start from March 22. For this tournament, the BCCI has changed some of the previous rules. Now the board is preparing to change a big rule. Actually, the BCCI is planning to lift the ban on applying saliva on the ball in the upcoming season of IPL.

IPL 2025: This proposal has been discussed in detail in the BCCI. This proposal will be placed in an important meeting with the captains at the BCCI headquarters on Thursday.

Let us tell you that before Kovid-19, bowlers used saliva to maintain the shine of the ball, but after the spread of the epidemic in 2022, the ICC banned it as a precaution. The BCCI also followed this rule in the IPL. After this, the players shine the ball only through sweat and by rubbing it on clothes. But the rules of IPL are outside the purview of the ICC.

IPL 2025: Will bowlers be able to use saliva again?

A senior BCCI official told PTI, ‘Applying saliva on the ball used to be an important part of the game before the COVID-19 pandemic. Now that there is no threat of COVID-19, there is no risk in lifting the ban on saliva on the ball in IPL.

We understand that it has a greater impact in red ball cricket and it also helps the bowlers a bit in the white ball format. It should be allowed in IPL. Let’s see what the captains decide tomorrow.’

If the captains do not object to the BCCI’s proposal, then in the upcoming season of IPL, bowlers can again be seen using saliva on the ball. This may force the ICC to lift the ban on it.

Let us tell you that earlier many players have demanded the removal of the ban on saliva. This includes the names of players like Mohammed Shami, Vernon Philander and Tim Southee. If this ban is lifted, it will help the bowlers a lot.
