Defending champions England hold the record for scripting the highest run-chase in the history of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The 2022 champions scripted the feat during the 2016 edition when they hunted down South Africa’s 229 in the final over with two wickets to spare.
The inaugural match of the T20 World Cup in 2007 saw the Proteas gun down West Indies’ 207 at the Wanderers in Johannesburg, thanks to an unbeaten 55-ball 90 from Herschelle Gibbs. This still remains the second-highest run-chase in T20 WC history.
The third-highest run-score while chasing belongs to England, who scored 200/6 in response to India’s 218, in the inaugural WC.
Three years later, Australia scripted a heist, as they chased down Pakistan’s 191/6, thanks to final over heroics from Michael Hussey.
