Manchester United’s New Era? Amorim Considers Throwing Sesko and Lammens into Derby Fire

Ruben Amorim faces a big decision as the Manchester derby comes closer this weekend. At the start of the season, he wanted a new striker and a goalkeeper. Now he must decide if both should make their first Premier League starts in a match that could shape Manchester United’s season.

All eyes are on Benjamin Sesko, the £74 million striker signed to lead the attack, and Senne Lammens, the £18 million goalkeeper from Royal Antwerp who is already competing for a place. So far, Sesko has only played three times as a substitute because Amorim has been careful not to rush him into action.

This approach has been intentional. Amorim believes players must prove themselves in training before he trusts them to start, no matter how expensive they are or how much pressure there is from outside.
