Bologna. The world has received something extraordinary like Bolognese pizza or Bolognese pasta from this famous city in northern Italy. The city, which is full of history and tradition, has always been visited by tourists. Last night, of course, apart from food and tourism, football also gained a different dimension in the city of Bologna.
Before World War II, Bologna was a dominant team in Italian football. But after the rise of AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus, Fiorentina, and Napoli, Bologna has only become a part of history. The last title came in the 1974-75 season. Since then, Bologna’s name has rarely been mentioned for football.

The wait ended yesterday. Bologna FC won their first trophy in 51 years, beating favourites AC Milan 1-0 in the Coppa Italia final in Rome. Dan Ndoi scored the goal on the day of the historic title win.

Bologna is a seven-time champion of Italy’s top league Serie A. Although they have never won a league title since the 1963-64 season, they were relegated to the second division. The last time they tasted a title in top-level football was in this Italian Cup. Yesterday, Bologna’s players gave it their all by reaching the Italian Cup final once again.
In the first half, they had 60 percent possession of the ball and created one attack after another on AC Milan’s goal. However, no goals were scored. Bologna tested Milan goalkeeper Mike Mannion only once in the 8th minute. He had to make very difficult saves the rest of the time.
However, Bologna did get a goal 8 minutes into the second half. Swedish striker Dan Ndoe easily finished off a rebound. Although Milan had possession of the ball for the entire period, there was no effective attack from it.
Bologna were disappointed after coming very close to scoring in the 95th minute. Although it lasted only two minutes, the final whistle blew in the 97th minute, and Bologna won the title after 51 years.
