Manchester City Reach Agreement to Sign Midfielder Reijnders

Manchester City have reached an agreement to sign Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan. The deal is for five years and is valued at 55 million euros, according to a team source on Wednesday.

Reijnders, who is 26 years old, joined AC Milan in 2023 on a five-year contract. In March, he extended his stay with the Italian club until 2030. During his time at Milan, he played 104 matches in all competitions and helped the team win the Italian Supercup.

He had an outstanding 2024/25 season, scoring 15 goals and earning the title of Serie A’s best midfielder, even though Milan only finished eighth in the league.

Reijnders has also played 22 matches for the Netherlands national team.

His signing will give Pep Guardiola more choices in midfield after Kevin De Bruyne leaves the club. De Bruyne is leaving after 10 years with Manchester City, during which he won six Premier League titles, the Champions League, and the Club World Cup in 2023.

Manchester City ended the 2024/25 Premier League season in third place and only confirmed their Champions League spot on the last day.

Their next competition is the Club World Cup. They will play their first match against Wydad AC on June 18, followed by games against Al-Ain and Juventus in Group G.
