Samit from Bangladesh Joins CPL Team of the Week

Samit

Samit Som’s passport is now ready, and the BFF has received it. By the rules, there’s no issue calling Samit a Bangladeshi. However, he was not officially a Bangladeshi until the day he played his last match for the Cavaliers in the Canadian Premier League. From the day he got recognition for that match, Samit became a footballer of Bangladesh.

Samit wore the captain’s armband for the first time in the last match for the Cavaliers. Even though he didn’t score or assist, he played really well in central midfield. His strong performance helped the Cavaliers secure a 2-1 win over York United and control the game.

Because of this, Samit was named in the Canadian Premier League’s best eleven of the week. Along with him, three other Cavaliers players made the team: goal scorers Tobias Warcheski and Fraser Aird, and Samit’s midfield partner Sergio Camargo.

Cavalieri FC won their last game, but their overall position isn’t strong. They are 5th out of 8 teams in the league. They have played 4 matches, winning 1, drawing 1, and losing 2. Atletico Ottawa is leading the table with 13 points from 5 matches.

Off the field, Samit also had a good week. On Friday night (Bangladesh time), he applied for a passport at the Bangladesh High Commission in Toronto. He got his e-passport within 72 hours.

Now, Samit’s dream of playing for Bangladesh will come true once he gets FIFA clearance.
