Just after Canelo won his IBF title back from William Scull to become undisputed champion for the second time, his next opponent was revealed.
Crawford, ranked No.1 by The Ring in the super-welterweight division, entered the ring at the ANB Arena to face off with Canelo, marking the start of their promotion for the big fight at Allegiant Stadium.
This big fight between two top stars will be the first boxing match ever held at the new stadium, which opened in 2020 and is home to the Las Vegas Raiders NFL team.
The two fighters smiled at each other during their first face-to-face meeting. Afterward, Canelo said, “I feel great. Crawford is one of the best, and I’m happy to share the ring with a fighter like him. It’s my pleasure.
“Everyone wants this fight, and His Excellency Turki Al-Alshikh asked for it, so let’s make it happen.”
Crawford said, “I feel great and blessed. I’ll show the world what greatness looks like in September.
“Canelo did what he needed to do to win his last fight. I’m the best, and that’s why everyone will watch on September 12.”
